This open access article explores and discusses children’s agency in the context of research. It draws on three situations recorded in the reflexive notes of two of the authors undertaking research with children with various medical diagnosis and disabilities. Using a combined autoethnographic and enactive phenomenological approach, the authors explore moments where the child participants disagreed with, or rejected, prevailing notions of ‘disability’ applied to them.
