Abstract: This paper is based on a qualitative research study, Children, Parents and Risk. This study looks at the ways in which risks to children are understood and managed by children and parents. The paper focuses on two areas of research – gaining access and interviewing – in order to show how the research process itself has constituted an important source of data on childhood and risk.
